Founder & President
Justin Salters, APR, CSR-P, is the founder and President of Hey Salty. A seasoned marketing communications strategist and leader, Salters is passionate about counseling leaders and organizations to help them engage with their audiences, grow their revenue and use business to create positive social impact through the products and services they sell and jobs they create.
Prior to founding Hey Salty, Salters worked at a public affairs firm based in Sacramento, Calif., where he led and managed complex, high-stakes issue advocacy programs and ballot measure campaigns for clients, including some of the nation’s largest businesses and trade associations, among others.
Earlier in his career, Salters served as Issues and Reputation Advisor at Chevron. In this role, he was responsible for stakeholder engagement, issues management and legislative and regulatory advocacy for the company’s exploration and production regions in California.
Salters holds a Bachelor of Arts in Political Science from CSU Bakersfield. He is Accredited in Public Relations (APR) through the Public Relations Society of America (PRSA) and is a Certified Sustainability Practitioner (CSR-P) through the Center for Sustainability and Excellence. Salters has also completed a Certificate in Corporate Citizenship Management from the Boston College Center for Corporate Citizenship. In 2022, Salters was recognized by the PRSA Central California Chapter as its Professional of the Year.
Salters is proud to call California’s Central Valley home. He and his wife, Emily, live in Bakersfield, Calif. with their two young daughters, Pierce and Ivy, and their rescue dog.
Salters serves on the boards of the Jim Burke Education Foundation, Maddy Institute for Public Policy, Bakersfield Symphony Orchestra, and JJ’s Legacy. Salters is a proud Rotarian and member of the Rotary Club of Bakersfield.
Account Supervisor
Joel Paramo, is an Account Supervisor at Hey Salty. In this role, he provides strategic counsel and manages day-to-day implementation of marketing and communications plans for our clients.
Prior to joining Hey Salty, Joel was a Digital Account Executive at Porter Novelli, a Top 25 global public relations agency, where he led account services for global brands and internationally recognized accounts in food and agriculture.
He started his career with the Los Angeles County Arts Commision working in world music and nonprofit work after he received his Bachelor of Arts in Journalism Communication, with an emphasis in Public Relations, from CSU Northridge.
Joel is an outside of the box thinker, and is valued on the Hey Salty team for his commitment to elevating impact for our clients through futurist thinking, innovative strategies and tactics that deliver favorable engagement.
